 　　China’s healthcare reforms have been an important part of the country’s efforts to provide more social security and improve the people’s wellbeing. CCTV News Senior Reporter Tian Wei caught up with Chen Zhu, the Minister of Health, on the sidelines of the ongoing1 session of the NPC.

　　Chen, an NPC Deputy, has over the past years played an instrumental role in designing and implementing2 the country’s healthcare reforms. He is also one of a few Non-Chinese Communist Party members who have been serving in a ministerial role. Recently, he was elected Chairman of the Chinese Peasants & Workers Democratic Party.
　　在过去的这几年，人大代表陈竹在设定和实施国家医疗改革方面发挥了重要作用。在中国政府部长级官员中，他也是少数几个非共产党员之一。最近，他被选举为中国农民和工人民主党主席。
