The Serbian province of Kosovo, with 90 percent of its population ethnic1 Albanian, declared independence from Serbia on Sunday. VOA's Barry Wood reports that this latest break with what was once the heart of Yugoslavia comes nearly nine years after a NATO bombing campaign drove Serbian troops out of Kosovo and the United Nations took over administration2 of the territory.
