　　Mark: I can't believe I'll be going to college next month. It seems like just yesterday I was starting my freshmen¹ year of high school.

　　马克：我简直不敢相信我下个月就要上大学啦。感觉高一新入学还是昨天的事情一样。

　　Jingjing: That's great, but what are you so pumped up about? College is a lot of work you know?

　　京晶：太棒了，但是你兴奋什么呢？大学生活是很忙碌的，你知道吗？

　　Mark: Yeah, but now I'm finally free! I'm going to move into my own dorm room! Now no one can tell me what to do!

　　马克：我知道，但是我终于自由了！我马上就要搬进宿舍了，再也没有人管我了。

　　Jingjing: Your parents can still tell you what to do.

　　京晶：你父母还是可以管你呀。

　　Mark: What do you mean? I'm moving out of their house.

　　马克：你什么意思？我都要搬出他们的房子了。

　　Jingjing: Just because you move out of their house, doesn't mean you're independent. If they're paying for your living expenses then technically² you still depend on them so you should still be respectful³ and listen to what they have to say.

　　京晶：仅仅搬出他们的房子，并不意味着你就独立了。如果你的生活费还是他们帮忙支付的，那么实际上你还得依靠他们。所以你还是得尊重他们并且听他们的话。

　　Mark: Yeah, I guess you're right. Why did you have to take the wind out of my sail? I was really getting excited.

　　马克：哦，是啊，我想你是对的，但你为什么一定要打破我的幻想呢？我本来真的很兴奋。

　　Jingjing: If you want to depend on them less, then maybe you should get a part-time job once school starts.

　　京晶：如果你想要少依赖他们一点，也许你可以在新学期开始后找一份兼职工作。

　　Mark: I'll consider it.

　　Jingjing: Hey, since you're moving out of your parents' house so soon,do you wanna sell me your television that's in your room?

　　Mark: Be my guest. That thing is so old, I was gonna toss⁴ it out anyways. You can just have it.

　　京晶：真的吗？谢谢！

　　Mark: I'm glad you like it. Besides, one man's trash is another man's treasure.

　　Mark: Actually, I took your advice and got a part-time job. I've been working the graveyard⁶ shift⁷ and coming home really early every morning.

　　马克：事实是，我听了你的建议并找了一份兼职工作，我最近一直在值夜班，要到早上才能回来。

　　Jingjing: What about your classes? Are you putting them on the backburner?

　　京晶：那你的课怎么办？你是把上课放在其次了吗？

　　Mark: No, school comes first. I go to school in the evening then I go to work. It's been really hard trying to be independent. I didn't think it would be this much work.

　　马克：没有，学业还是最重要的。我每天傍晚先去上学，然后才去工作。要变得独立真的很难，我没想到会有这么多工作要做。

　　Jingjing: Be careful what you wish for. I never said being an independent person is easy. Now you know how much pain your parents went through when they were raising you. This is your first time living away from your parents and depending on yourself. You have to learn to walk before you can run. Take it easy!

　　京晶：要想清楚你追求的东西会带来什么后果。我从来没有说变得独立是一件容易的事情，现在你知道父母把你养大受了多少苦了吧！这是你第一次离开父母独立生活。你得先学会走路才能学会跑。慢慢来，别着急。

　　Mark: Well, now that you're here, it'd be nice to go out and do something. Let's see a movie!

　　Jingjing: Okay, and now that you have some pocket money, I'll let you buy my ticket.
