make up意思很丰富，比如：“弥补，虚构，缝制，整理，包装，和解，化妆，拼凑”等。而美国人经常使用的意思是“弥补，补偿”。本课的make it up to意思就是“报答，补偿”。可以在表示谢意的时候用，也可以在感觉有所亏欠时用。所以如果你给别人造成了某些损失，你就可以说：Sorry, I will make it up to you.另有一个短语叫make up for，后接造成损失的事物，而make it up to后接人。例如：Her beauty can't make up for her stupidity.   她的美丽不能弥补她的愚蠢。
