Japan is now dealing1 with the on-going fallout from Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's visit to the war-linked Yasukuni shrine2 last month. With the US having already expressed its disappointment, Japanese diplomats3 are busy attempting to soothe4 ties with Washington.

Abe’s younger brother, and the country’s senior Vice-Foreign Minister Nobuo Kishi will visit the US for five days beginning Monday. He is scheduled to meet US government officials and experts, and convey to them Abe’s purported5 intention.

And on Friday, the chief of Japan’s newly established National Security Council Shotaro Yachi will also pay a visit to Washington. According to Japanese media, he will meet with US Secretary of State John Kerry, and account for Abe’s actions.
