China has urged Japan to take action to improve bilateral1 relations. Chinese Foreign Ministry2 Sporkeman Qin Gang made the remarks at a press conference, in response to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s spring festival message to Chinese nationals residing in Japan. Abe called on the two countries to return to mutually beneficial relations and manage their differences.
Qin Gang, Spokesman of Chinese Foreign Ministry, said, "We hope that Japan should make a practical effort to mend the bilateral ties, rather than beat around the bush and say one thing and do the complete opposite. The Year of the Horse is approaching, the best greeting and the most sincere wish that Japan can offer to China is to say that "Japan will stop on the edge of the cliff and not go any further regarding historical issues, immediately admit mistakes and correct them and never go and visit the Yasukuni Shrine3."
