(单词翻译:单击)
Thailand’s Senate, or upper house, has agreed to draft a roadmap aimed at resolving the country’s prolonged political turmoil1 as early Friday.
This comes after a two-day Senate meeting where many divergent suggestions were proposed. Some lawmakers pushed to name a non-elected Prime Minister, an unacceptable proposal to pro-government members.
Meanwhile, a meeting between the interim2 prime minister and the Election Commission to fix a date for an election was postponed3 on Wednesday due to security concerns. The government believes a new poll is the best way out of a protracted4 crisis that has brought sporadic5 violence to the streets of Bangkok, threatened to tip the economy into recession and even raised fears of civil war.
