China's Ministry1 of National Defence has responded to a US media report saying that China sent a surveillance ship to monitor the world largest maritime2 drills the Rim3 of the Pacific exercise.
The ministry said that China’s naval4 vessels5 had the right under international law to operate "in waters outside of other country’s territorial6 waters". And that China respects the rights granted under international law to relevant littoral7 states, and hopes that relevant countries can respect the legal rights Chinese ships have. 22 countries took part in the drill in Hawaii, including China, who participated in the exercise for the first time.
