As the critical 72-hour rescue period ends, authorities have launched sanitation¹ works and preventive measures to avert² any possible outbreak of an epidemic³ in the quake affected⁴ zone.

In response to continuous high temperatures and rain since the earthquake hit Ludian county, the earthquake relief headquarters dispatched anti-chemical troops to guard against a possible epidemic or major disease. Many health clinics were also set up to treat patients and monitor the disease in affected areas.

Currently no epidemic or contagious⁵ diseases have been reported in the region.
