　　Sleep tight源于美国版的“宝贝，晚安。”即：Sleep tight and don’t let the bedbugs bite. （睡得好觉，别让臭虫咬。）在19世纪，美国孩子临睡前最喜欢听父母这样对他们说。其中的tight相当于soundly，well。Sleep tight的意思是“睡得很甜，很香”。

　　有人认为sleep tight和海军有直接联系，因为军用的海军用的是吊床，只有把吊床的绳子勒紧了，他们才能睡得舒服些。在这里tight的意思就是“stretched or down out fully”，意思是“拉紧的，绷紧的”。

　　Sleep tight的英文解释为：to sleep warm and safe. It is usually said with good night to someone going to bed. 它可以单独使用，用于口语短句中，也可以如对话中和动词“have”连用做句子的谓语，即：have a sleep tight。
