　　brush off

　　1. 解词释义

　　Brush off的原意是“刷掉，刷掉, 掸掉, 拂掉”的意思。例如：Dust on the surface brushes off easily. （表面的灰尘容易掸掉。）Please brush this insect off.（请把这只虫掸掉。）在口语中，可以用来表示“拒绝，漠视，不理睬”等意思。

　　使用这个短语的时候，注意brush off之间既可以接something，也可以接somebody。它除了做动词短语用外，还可以做名次短语用，但是需要用—连字符将其连接起来。例如：She gave me the brush - off. （她不理我。）I wanted to keep in touch, but when I called him he gave me the brush-off.（我想和他保持联系，但当我打电话给他时，他却不理睬我。）

　　2. 拓展例句

　　e.g. Nixon was less likely to brush off the bearer of unwelcome intelligence¹.

　　尼克松不大可能对他的逆耳之言置之不理。

　　e.g. I didn't expect her to brush us off like this.

　　1. as if的意思是“好像，似乎”，是复合连词，引导的状语从句中的谓语要使用虚拟语气。例如：

　　The house seemed muted², hushed as if it had been deserted³.

　　房子里似乎悄然无声，安静得好像已经没人在住一样。

　　She could hear his ragged⁴ breathing, as if he had been running.

　　她能听到他不均匀的呼吸声，似乎他是跑着过来的。

　　2. talk to sb. about something的意思是和某人谈论什么事情，注意语序的放置，人位于事物或事件之前。

　　He intends to talk to young people about the dangers of AIDS.

　　他打算和青年人谈谈艾滋病的危害。
