China's top legislator Zhang Dejiang is on a four-day official friendly visit to India, where he's met with President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Zhang Dejiang, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, said China and India have had thousands of years of friendly exchange, and they have learnt and benefited from each other's cultures.
He said they should work together for peaceful, cooperative and inclusive development. President Mukherjee said India values good relations with China, and is willing to strengthen cooperation in all fields.
In his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Zhang Dejiang said China seeks to increase political trust and pragmatic cooperation, handle disputes properly, and improve communication and coordination on regional and international issues.
Modi said India regards China as an important strategic partner and will continue to strengthen cooperation in all fields. Zhang Dejiang also held talks with Indian parliamentary leaders, calling for stronger cooperation between the two countries' legislatures.
