各位亲爱的朋友们，欢迎来到早间课堂第二些列《抛招接招》小节目，我是Juliet。
 
年青人经常会对年迈将退休的人说：“真羡慕你，你可以享清福了，我们还不知要等到何年何月了！”这就是说不用工作就可以有工资，过着清闲安逸，无忧无虑的生活。我们看到年老的人还在拉黄包车的时候，就会心痛地说：“您就别再累了，享享清福吧。”这就是劝他他要再像年轻的时候那样需要卖苦力了，因为他儿女的钱已经够他度过晚年的了，就好好保重身体就行了。那么，今天我就继续抛出第3招说“Enjoying Life”，说说我们平时提到的“享清福”如何表达。
 
我们先来听2个例子：
 
抛招-1：Since Pat married a rich widow, he's been living the life of Riley. Pat自从娶了一个有钱的寡妇，就过上了自由自在的安乐日子。
 
抛招-2：You told me that if we move to the South Sea, we would be living the life of Riley. 你告诉我，如果我们移居南太平洋，我们就会过上安乐的日子。
 
接招：在上面的2个例句中都用到了同一个词语：live the life of Riley。这是一条动词性的习惯用语。句中有个表示人的词“Riley”，Riley是爱尔兰人用的名字，在美国也很普遍。谁也不知道Riley到底是个什么的人。可是我们知道一首歌里有Riley这个名字。这首歌讲的是一个神秘的爱尔兰人，他突然，出乎意料之外地变得非常富有。既然富有了，就无需再去做苦力活了。因此，live the life of Riley意思就是过着像Riley一样富有，安逸清闲，无忧无虑，愉快的生活。用中文的字眼“享清福”这三个字可以对上号。短语中的live也可以用作lead，即：lead the life of Riley。
 
下面我们通过更多的例句来熟悉这个习语的意思。
 
1. In a few years the value of the stock soared and Joe sold out with enough to retire on. Now he leads the life of Riley - he's always off to Paris or Hong Kong, stays in the best hotels, eats in the best places and samples all the pleasures of life.
