The Chinese capital is trying to regulate the use of electric bicycles. The Beijing Traffic Management Bureau has announced that,starting April 11, non-motorized vehicles will be banned from ten of the city's major thoroughfares.
The list includes a couple of the city's pivotal arteries, such as Chang'an avenue and Guangchang road. The bureau says there would be a 20-yuan fine for any violation.
The crackdown is believed to be targeting electronic bicycles in particular. It is estimated that more than four million e-bikes now roam around Beijing, many of them unregistered...The city also saw more than 31,000 cases of e-bike-related traffic accidents in 2015, which resulted in more than 110 deaths in the last year.
