"Many of the exhibited pieces have never been published. I want to unveil the process of how my final works are completed. I also brought artwork I have done by hand. I spent some time on them every day, bringing them from the initial idea to the final painting by myself," he said.
His fans are surprised and thrilled to see Zhu's sketches for the first time.
"I think, unlike U.S. movies that are going for visual impact, the Chinese-style hand-drawing conveys deep feeling. I prefer the hand-drawing."
The themes of Zhu's exhibit are Embracing Childlikeness, and Slowing Down.

"What I want to express through the drawings is that we should slow down our pace. In this way, I was able to create so many works. I want to stress the importance of a craftsman's approach - making every piece of work very carefully and slowly, instead of relying on machines. This attitude is far more important than anything else," Zhu said.
The China International Cartoon and Animation Festival is now one of the world’s most influential events of its kind in the world.
