With only 100 days to go, the upcoming G20 summit is in the final stages of preparation. Here's a look at the background of the summit, and what to watch for this year.
Initiated in 1999, this international forum has 20 members covering 19 individual countries, along with the European Union.
It is a top forum for international cooperation on the most important issues on the global economic and financial agenda. Under the theme of “Toward an Innovative, Invigorated, Interconnected, and Inclusive World Economy”, the eleventh G20 summit is to be held from 4th to 5th September this year. It takes place in Hangzhou, the capital city of eastern Zhejiang province.
Now, check out this year’s logo, a stylized bridge made up of twenty lines symbolizing the members. Unity and coordination is embodied by the number "zero" in the center. The red seal in the right corner represents traditional Chinese culture and matches the English word “CHINA”.
It is the first ever G20 summit to be hosted in China. In addition, the G20 will highlight development issues from a global viewpoint. The forum will also work on an action plan for implementing the United Nation's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
And to achieve these goals, hard work and cooperation by all G20 members will matter.
