The day after the 2016 election, the country is look ahead. Hillary Clinton delivered her concession1 speech in New York on Wednesday, urging young girls to continue to pursue their dreams. At the White House, president Obama urged unity2 and respect as he looked to a peaceful transition of power.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump3's presidential victory set off protests early Wednesday in Berkeley, California. Demonstrators marched to the streets chanting "not my president."

Firefighters controlled a large fire at a complex of abandoned warehouse4 in Wilmington, Delaware. About 250 firefighters and emergency personnel responded to the 4-alarm blaze.

And the markets ran a upswing after Tuesday's election, moving solidly higher in the mid-day trading on Wal Street. Markets were jittery5 over the prespect of a Trump White House in recent weeks, but declines in overnight trading quickly reversed.
