3. Defense3 secretary Ash Carter met with Iraqi prime minister Haider al-Abadi in Iraq on Sunday. His visit came as Iraqi security forces have been slow in nearly two month-old defensive4 against the Islamic State group which occupied Mosul for more than two years. 

4. Colorful floats made the way down streets of the West Bank city of Bethlehem during their annual Christmas parade. Several nativities scene drifted past the crowd. Santa and his elves were also in the show.
