The melancholy¹ days are come，the saddest of the year,

Alas¹¹! They all are in their graves, the gentle race of flowers

The rain is falling where they lie, but the cold November rain

诗人简介：
威廉·柯伦·布赖恩特 William Cullen Bryant(1794～1878)，是著名的美国首位抒情诗人。他自幼喜爱诗歌，博览莎士比亚、弥尔顿和 蒲伯等英国诗人的作品。十三岁时曾写了讽刺诗《禁运》，十六岁时创作了《对死亡的冥想》。其后，又创作了大量优美的诗歌，自然风物在他的诗中显得和谐而柔美，静谧而有节制，反映了他在那个时代所追求的理想。正是这些特点，使他成为美国的第一位浪漫主义诗人，而且也是获得世界声誉的第一位美国作家。
