Chinese Foreign Ministry¹ has issued a statement, saying the consultation² with the US on economic and trade issues will be constructive³ as long as the U.S. delegation⁴ comes with sincerity⁵.

Spokesperson Hua Chunying made the remarks in response to a question regarding the China visit by a U.S. delegation comprising of high-ranking trade and economic officials.

Hua says China welcomes the visit by the U.S. delegation led by Treasury⁶ Secretary Steven Mnuchin, adding the overall stability of trade relations are undoubtedly⁷ in line with the common interests of both sides.

US officials travelling to Beijing also include Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross and U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer.

Chinese Vice⁸ Premier⁹ Liu He will lead the Chinese group.
