 随着科技的不断进步，中国已经开始发放5G的电话卡了。今天我们就来聊聊和通讯技术相关的英语吧。

 

01.5G
5G中的G的意思是：
Generation: 一代
5G=the fifth generation
除了电信通讯，我们“一代人”用的也是这个词：
Generation to generation: 一代接一代
人与人之间的代际不断增加的话，就会产生：
Generation gap: 代沟
Generation gap is growing/becoming wider:
代沟越来越大

02.Memory&Storage
手机容量64G中的G可不是generation的意思，它指的是：
Memory&storage: 手机内存
Memory card: 储存卡
Storage space: 储存空间
谈到自己的手机内存时，外国人不会直接说64G ✘，而会说：
G=gig/gigs ✔
GB=gigabyte ✔
I got 64 gigs on my phone: 我的手机内存有64G
比GB还要更小的单位有：
MB=megabyte
KB=kilobyte

03.Cell phone&Mobile phone
一只小小的手机，英美的说法也不同，美国人说：
Cell phone: 手机
Cell的原意是蜜蜂的蜂巢，因为手机通信的网络结构和蜂巢很相似，所以手机就被称作为cell phone，其实cell还有很多别的意思，比如细胞：
Normal cells: 正常细胞
Cancerous cells: 癌细胞
除此之外，也可以用来形容一个特定的场所：
Prison cells: 监狱里的牢房
如果你想问别的电话号码，你可以说：
What's your cell number? 你的电话号码是多少？
和美国人不同，手机在英国叫做：
Mobile phone: 移动手机
不仅说法不一样，英美两国人对它的念法也不同：
英国：/ˈməʊbaɪl/
美国：/ˈmoʊbl/

04.Charger
手机没有电万万不能，这时候需要：
Charger: 充电器
Cable: 充电线
如果要外出的话，要记得带上手机的移动电源哦：
Portable charger/power bank: 充电宝

05.Drive
Drive除了开车，还可以指电脑的外接硬盘：
External drive: 电脑硬盘
如果要强调它方便携带的话，也可以说：
Portable drive: 移动硬盘
