[01:52.01]and I was surprised at all the different responses I got.

[02:02.28]When I tell people I'm a producer I often get a slightly confused reaction--

[02:13.49]W:Well,Lets clear up the mystery.    M:Great!First off,
[02:20.38]let me say that not every producer does exactly the same things.
[02:26.29]But I can say that they are all tired and stressed out,
[02:32.08]but probably love their job!
[02:36.19]For myself,I can tell you that my job allows me to be in charge of things
[02:43.40]and at the same time work as part of a team.
[02:48.18]There's a lot of responsibility to this job,too:
[02:53.27]I have to see that everything is done correctly,on time,and within the budget.
[03:00.56]W:Most people probably think of the producer as the"money person".
[03:06.96]Is there a creative side to the job,too?
[03:11.45]M:Oh,absolutely.For example,
[03:15.94]I do research and think up ideas for shows with the writers.
[03:22.45]And then I work with the directors and the performers.
[03:27.23]But above all,you have to have a strong personality to be a producer--
[03:33.60]you have to be in charge of everyone,
[03:37.50]get them to do what you want but you still have to be nice to them!
