 The New South Wales State Opposition1 is pushing for a parliamentary inquiry2 into allegations for the tape made by murdered businessman Michael McGurk implicates3 Labor4 MPs in a bribery5 scandal. However, former ALP powerbroker Graham Richardson says he’s heard the tape and the parts for the supposed to review the alleged6 bribery are inaudible. Mr. McGurk was murdered last week.

Australia’s new top police officer will be sworn in at Parliament House in Canberra today. Tony Negus is taking over the reign7 from outgoing commissioner8 Mick Keelty who retired9 last week. He will take over a force with more than 6,500  employees, and a budget of more than one billion dollars. 

And 2005 US Open Champion Kim Clijsters has continued her successful return to tennis with a 3-set win over America’s third seed Venus Williams. In the Men’s scores, Spain’s Rafael Nadal is through to the fourth ground. And former world NO.1 Juan Carlos Ferrero had a win over ninth seed Giles Simon.
