An Australian customs ship carrying 78 Sri Lankan asylum2 seekers remains3 anchored off the Indonesian coast. The group was expected to be transferred to an Australian-funded detention4 center yesterday morning. It is believed Indonesian Immigration officials yesterday started processing the asylum seekers while at sea.

Security forces in Iraq were on high alert the day after two suicide bombs ripped through Baghdad, the death toll5 from the blast has risen to 155 and more than 500 people were injured. The Iraqi government says the bombings were an attempt to prevent elections in January.

And a new report predicts that one in seven Australians will suffer type 2 diabetes6 by the year 2050. That's double the present level of the people with the disease. The dramatic increase will cost the nation more than 14 billion dollars a year, the office of the study have called for greater government investment in the disease.
