Evidence will be presented that Hu and three other Rio Tinto executives offered bribes⁶ in return for the secrets of Chinese steel companies. Australian diplomats⁷ have now been locked out of the trial.

And the US President Barack Obama has signed his landmark⁸ health care bill into law in a ceremony at the White House. The new law will eventually extend health insurance cover to about 32 million Americans who have none. Mr Obama’s hailed the legislation as historic.
