The UN Security Council is poised7 to announce tough new measures against Colonel Gaddafi. The US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says those measures could include a no-fly zone.
 
And Julia Gillard is promising8 to protect Australian jobs from the impact of a carbon tax. The Prime Minister used a speech in Adelaide overnight to build her case for the tax, saying Australia faces more extreme weather events if nothing is done to tackle climate change. But the Opposition insists the tax will drive jobs and investment overseas.
