Only 12 of the prisoners have been recaptured. The Taliban's released a statement saying it took five months to dig the 320-metre tunnel. 
 
An Australian man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for attempting to smuggle6 methamphetamines into Bali. Judges in the case said Michael Sacatides was caught with 1.7 kilograms of the drug concealed7 inside his suitcase lining8. 
 
At least five people have been killed as Syria's army advances into the southern city of Deraa.
 
Authorities have used tanks to support troops as security forces stepped up efforts to curb9 pro-democracy demonstrations10. Witnesses say the army opened fire on protesters. The US is considering imposing11 sanctions on senior Syrian officials to pressure the regime to stop its violent crackdown. 
 
And three men are still on the roof of Sydney's Villawood Detention12 Centre, protesting their failed application for asylum13.
