The United States has again condemned7 the violence and is urging Syrian authorities to talk to the demonstrators. 
 
And a 91-year-old convicted war criminal has escaped jail because of his age. A German court has found the man guilty of helping8 to murder almost 30,000 Jews at a Nazi9 death camp during World War II.
