 　　BEIJING, Aug. 22 (Xinhuanet) -- U.S. Emmy award-winning actress Selena Gomez will host the MTV Video Music Awards pre-show on Aug. 28, according to media reports Monday.

　　Along with a cadre of MTV personalities1 and rock act Cobra Starship, Gomez will interview celebrities2 and musicians outside Los Angeles‘ Nokia Theatre on VMA's "black carpet."
　　"After all of my years watching the VMAs, the pre-show has always been one of my favorite parts," Gomez says in a statement. "It is a true honor to be hosting from the black carpet this year."
　　Artists including Lady Gaga, Adele, Lil Wayne, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown and Young the Giant are slated3 to appear.
　　Gomez currently has a hit album with her backing band the Scene, "When the Sun Goes Down," which is at No. 17 on the U.S. pop chart.
