Ajax beat Dinamo Zagreb to continue in Europe

　　In the same group Real Madrid defeated Olympique Lyon and already qualified¹ for the next phase with two match rounds remaining.

　　The mission of the home team was a victory to ensure finishing third and playing in at least the Europa League in 2012.

　　Christian² Eriksen made Ajax's intentions clear by Ajax just missing the target in the second minute. Just at the moment the Amsterdam team seemed to get sloppy³, Eriksen opened on Gregory van de Wiel with a beautiful back heel pass. The right-back hesitated a moment and fired: 1-0.

　　Ajax seemed liberated⁴ by the opening goal and went right on hunting for the second. Five minutes later Miralem Sulejmani scored after receiving a Siem de Jong pass. The Serbian striker could have scored more, but his header went wide, just like a late header by Toby Alderweireld.

　　In the second half Ajax kept dominating and Siem de Jong produced the third goal in the 65th minute. A Van der Wiel cross was touched by Eriksen with his heel again and De Jong found the net. In the remainder of the match Dinamo was not able to bounce back and Ajax easily secured the victory. Substitute Nicolas Lodeiro even made it 4-0 in injury-time.

　　Also in Group D Real Madrid beat Olympique Lyon 2-0 in France. Cristiano Ronaldo scored in the 24st and the 69th minute (free-kick and penalty) and handed Real their fourth victory.

　　The Spaniards are already sure of a berth⁵ in the next round. Ajax are second with seven points, while Lyon are third with four points. Both teams will fight for the second spot in the last 16 of the Champions League and will meet each other in Lyon on November 22.
