Newly released figures show China's outbound direct investment surged 22 percent year-on-year to nearly $70 billion U.S. dollars last year, recording1 growth for the ninth straight year.

The commerce ministry2 says China's 2010 outbound direct investment accounted for 5.2 percent of global capital flows and exceeded that of both Japan and the United Kingdom for the first time.
