Rafael Nadal, the top seed at the Shanghai Masters played on Tuesday at the event, but to everyone's surprise he lost the match. Yunfeng reports from Shanghai.

 
Yes, Nadal has lost again, not in the singles match but in the doubles. With his countryman Marc Lopez, they lost to Christopher Kas from Germany and Alexander Peya from Austria1. During the match, he tried his best, trying to save every ball. But doubles is a different kind of game. Everything is faster as Nadal explained in the press briefing after the game.

Nadal is very modest when describing the game, and he was also very modest during the press conference2 when people focused3 on his career development. When a journalist asked him which method he should use to improve his skills, he said "everything".

Nadal didn't play as well this season as the last, having lost to Roger Federer in Doha. In September he lost to Novak Djokvic in the US open final. When asked if he was doing better last year when compared to this year, he was quite frank4. 

The world Number Two is going to play Garcia Lopez from Spain in the next round.
