 The competition regulator says there's a good chance Telstra's structural1 separation plan will be approved early next year. Apple has lost a High Court bid to stop Samsung selling its Galaxy4 tablet computer in Australia. Apple says Samsung's Galaxy range of tablets and smartphones is too similar to its iPad and iPhone. But the High Court has ruled in Samsung's favour, saying arguments from Apple's lawyers had insufficient5 prospects6 of success.
 
China's rate of inflation has fallen in November to its lowest pace in 14 months. The country's consumer price index rose by 4.2 per cent in the year to November, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. Analysts7 say this creates more room for authorities to ease monetary8 policy and encourage economic growth.
 
Checking the markets now, local shares finished lower as uncertainty9 continues over Europe. The All Ordinaries index fell 1.7 per cent. The ASX 200 dropped 78 points to 4,203. European markets have closed higher. The FTSE 100 was up 45 points.
