5. 已知观点的例子可以略读

    阅读中，如果已经知道作者举例的目的，即用这个例子来说明某个理论，解决某个问题或者证实某个观点，那么这个例子我们就可以略读。考生必须明白，考点往往不是考例子本身，而是它的目的和作用。

例9 America’s injured workers could sue for damages in a court of law, but they still faced a number of tough legal barriers. For example, employees had to prove that their injuries directly resulted from employer negligence¹ and that they themselves were ignorant about potential hazards in the workplace. 例10 Researchers who are unfamiliar² with the cultural and ethnic³ groups they are studying must take extra precautions to shed any biases⁴ they bring with them from their own culture.
