Five suspected al-Qaeda militants³ accused of planning the 9/11 terror attacks will be tried by a military commission at Guantanamo Bay. The five include the alleged⁴ mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. Pentagon officials say they face the death penalty if found guilty. 

 

French police have arrested 10 more suspected Islamist militants after raids in the south of France. They say those arrested have a similar profile to the gunman who killed seven people in Toulouse two weeks ago. 

 

Indonesia’s justice ministry⁵ has backed a long-standing recommendation to cut Australian Schapelle Corby’s jail term for smuggling⁶ marijuana. The 34-year-old is serving a 20-year sentence. There is no indication when President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will make a decision. 

 

Madame Tussauds has unveiled waxwork⁷ figures of Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge. The couple have the same pose they had during their engagement announcement.

 

And a Queensland family which lost 11 family members and their home in a fire last August will receive the keys to a new home this morning. Eight children and teenagers died in the fire in the Brisbane suburb of slacks creek⁸. The Builders Laborers¹⁰ Union and more than 40 companies donated supplies and labor⁹ to rebuild the home.
