2. The Syrian government is denying responsibility for an attack on a string of villages in central Syria that left more than 90 people dead. The foreign ministry¹ blames the killings² on what it says were hundreds of heavily armed gunmen who also attacked soldiers in the area. The UN Security Council is convening³ an emergency meeting on the situation. 

 

 

 

3. America's newest veterans are filing for disability benefits at a historic rate. Government officials say that 45% of the 1.6 million vets⁴ from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are now seeking compensation for injuries they say are service-related.
