ROME, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- Gigi De Canio has been sacked by Genoa after the Rossoblu squandered1 a two-goal lead in their 4-2 loss against Roma.

Genoa were 2-0 ahead in the first 15 minutes on Sunday night, then desparately saw the Giallorossi fought back to collect a memorable2 4-2 win.
Genoa club president Enrico Preziosi was apparently3 unhappy with what had happened in the match and De Canio had to pay for that.
Former Sampdoria and Juventus boss Gigi Del Neri will replace De Canio, who saved the club from relegation4 last season, at the Ferraris.
