　　The Myanmar drug lord and three of his accomplices¹, identified as Hsang Kham, Yi Lai,and Zha Xika, were given the lethal² injection in the city of Kunming in southwest China's Yunnan Province.

 

　　Just two days before the execution, Naw Kham was speaking to China Central Television – also known as CCTV through an interpreter, about the 'Golden Triangle' area on the Mekong river where the killings³ happened.

 

　　"Drug trafficking is prevalent in the 'Golden Triangle' area. Good people, who come to the area, they can't resist the temptation, and they would eventually get involved in the business, and become addicted⁴ to drugs. They make money out of selling drugs and use the money in gambling⁵. They would sell more drugs after they lost their money in gambling and eventually become bad people."

 

　　Him and his associates were arrested in Myanmar and brought to China last May.

 

　　In November they were found guilty of intentional⁶ homicide and drug trafficking, with Naw Kham, said to have organized the hijacking⁷ of two Chinese cargo⁸ ships on the Mekong in October 2011.

 

　　Since the entire incident, China, Myanmar, Laos and Thailand have set up joint⁹ security patrols along the Mekong River.

 

　　The Chinese Ministry¹⁰ of Public Security says the gang has now been broken up, but the joint patrol will continue to safeguard ships on the river.
