 　　A professor of public health with Peking University is holding his ground on downplaying the dangers of plasticizers and melamine at a liquor brand conference, but wants to apologize for making the comments.

 
　　Professor Li Keji, sparked public anger after media reported he claimed plasticizers have not been proved harmful to human health and adults can safely consume melamine.
 
　　In an interview with Xinhua, Li argues he made the comments to tell the public that they don't have to be too worried by the liquor and baby formula food safety scandals.
