3. The Washington National Cathedral will soon begin hosting same-sex marriages. Cathedral officials say the church will be among the first Episcopal congregations to implement⁵ a new rite⁶ of marriage for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender members. 

 

4. Scientists and broadcasters say they have captured video images of a giant squid in its natural habitat for the first time. That nine-foot sea animal was filmed from an underwater research vehicle in the Pacific last summer.
