Northeast China has been hit by another bout¹ of heavy snow from Sunday. In Heilongjiang Province, blizzard² warnings were upgraded to the highest red alert on Monday afternoon.

Seven expresways are closed, and traffic restrictions³ are temporarily imposed in the provincial⁴ capital Harbin. The continued snowfall has also shut down expressways in neighboring Jilin and Liaoning Provinces.

However, air and rail transport have not been seriously affected⁵ there.

Some parts in the Northeast may see heavy snow of more than 20 millimeters in the next 24 hours. The National Meteorological Center says it will continue through Tuesday.
