Reserve Bank figures continue to show home loans leading lending growth and business borrowing going
backwards4. The banks figures show the value of outstanding home loans rose half a percent in November in
seasonally5 adjusted terms and 5.1 percent over the past year. Within
residential6 property, it was
investors7 driving the growth in lending. Housing investors borrowing is at a 32 months high. But business lending declined by a tenth of a percent and personnel loans were flat.
