The captain of the Bob Barker Peter Hammer-stedt says his vessel5 received some damage when the Japanese ship crossed its bow today. The Australian government is preparing a briefing on the claim. 
 
A 41-year-old man has been charged with the attempted murder of a woman and her two children in suburban6 Brisbane. Residents heard screams ringing out through the Karina neighbourhood before emergency crews arrived at the family's home. They found a 39-year-old woman, her 9-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son with multiple stab wounds. They were all taken to hospital in a serious condition.
 
And some of Australia's brightest medal hopes have arrived in Sochi for the winter Olympics amid tightened7 security. The Australian team has been banned from leaving the Olympic zone.
