 The number of country searching for the missing Malaysian plane has now nearly doubled to 25. Investigators1 are now looking into the background of everyone on board after confirming the plane's tracking equipment was deliberately2 disabled. The search area has been expanded further north and south, closer to Australia.

 
Preliminary results from the referendum in Crimea show overwhelming support to break away from Ukraine. Local authorities say more than 95 per cent of Crimeans have voted in favor of joining Russia. Ukraine and its western allies say they simply won't accept the result.
 
Former Labor3 minister Penny Wong has confirmed she's been contacted by the Royal Commission into the former government's bungled4 home insulation5 scheme. The Commission will begin hearing evidence in Brisbane this morning. Current and former senior public servants and former ministerial advisers6 are among those who have been listed to appear. 
 
The scheme has been blamed for the death of four men and hundreds of house fires. Senator Wong says the minister for cli...was the minister for climate change rather when the scheme was rolled out. She's confirmed she's been asked to assist with the commission's inquiry7, but hasn't yet been asked to identify.
