China Banking1 Regulatory Commission on Wednesday issued regulations on banking supervision2 in the Shanghai Free Trade Zone--it’s all about quicker approvals, stricter risk controls.
The guidance lays out three basic systems, covering simplified entry process for banks and senior management positions , guidance on risk assessment3, and banks monitoring and reporting system.
According to the new regulations, banks can set up regional branches in the FTZ without CBRC approval in advance, but only need to file a report afterwards.
It will largely shorten the time of getting financial certificate for new branches, from the previous 6 months the longest to within 10 working days.
