Pakistan's largest airport has reopened after an attack by militants⁴ left 28 people dead. Ten heavily armed gunmen stormed the Gina International Airport in Karachi yesterday. Security forces took at least six hours to regain⁵ control. The Pakistan Taliban says the attack was in response to air strikes by US drones last year that killed its leader. 

 

 

The political turmoil⁶ in Victoria is expected to come to a hit today. The opposition⁷ will attempt to introduce a motion to expel controversial rogue⁸ MP. Geoff Shaw. Mr. Shaw, who holds the balance of power, was found to have misused⁹ his taxpayer¹⁰' fund for a car and fuel card. Last week he declared he supported not confidence motion in the government, but it's still unclear whether the government will supoort the motion to expel Mr. Shaw or simply try to have him suspended instead. 

 

 

The federal government is resisting calls to hold a royal commission into the defense¹¹ forces' abuse. Four Corners last night uncovered cases of sexual abuase. The alleged¹² perpetrators are still working for defense. Former senior legal officer with Australian Defense Force C. Ward¹³ says a royal commission may be the only way to uncover the fully¹⁴ extended abuse, but Defense Minister David Johnson says most victims don't support that action.
