Another typhoon - Rammasun - has killed 62 people while leaving another 21 missing. It has shattered infrastructures2 and destroyed roads. Over 11 million people across four provinces have been affected3 by Rammasun.

Some have been resettled, and some 260 thousand are in urgent need of basic necessities. Rammasun is the strongest typhoon to hit southern China in four decades, and the strongest typhoon to hit Guangdong and Guangxi since 1949.

Rammasun and Matmo together caused direct economic losses of over 6 billion dollars. The ministry4 of Civil affairs has launched 15 emergency response programs and worked with the Ministry of Finance to provide about a third of a billion dollars to affected people.
