A chaotic² commute³ in the Philippines Wednesday morning. A commuter⁴ train rammed⁵ through a concrete barrier in Manila, plowing⁶ into cars and injuring scores of passengers.

 

In New York, officials are calling it the single rainiest day on record for the state. 13 inches of rain fell in the town of Babylon on Long Island Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. The storm flooeded homes and stranded⁷ cars on the highway. Dozens of people were rescued from vehicles along flooded roads.

 

And in Minnesota, politics has gone to the dogs. The tiny village of Cormorant⁸ electing a 7-year-old dog named Duke to the mayor's office. The pup beat out the owner of the town's general store by more than double.
