Several Syrian human rights groups are calling for international help to save a Kurdish town. They say Kobani is at risk of falling into the hands of the Islamic State group. The fighting has forced thousands to flee and seek shelter in neighboring Turkey. 

 

Evening viewers in most of Asia and early risers in parts of the Americas were treated to a lunar eclipse on Wednesday. Seeing here in Los Angeles, they watched as the moon turn shaved to red in what is known as a Blood Moon, the hue² result from sunlight gathering³ off earth's atmosphere. 

 

And two Italian children received the right of their ride on the Popemobile. Pope Francis invited two blessed who attended his weekly audience at the Vatican to hitch⁴ a ride on the famous Popemobile. The boys thanked the pontiff with a kiss on both cheeks before heading back into the crowd.
