Gerald Ridsdale will continue his evidence to the Child Abuse Royal Commission via video link from prison today. Ridsdale has admitted abusing hundreds of children over several decades in and around the Victorian city of Ballarat.
Federal Attorney-General George Brandis says a letter from Sydney siege gunman Man Haron Monis did not seem to indicate he was a threat to the community. Monis wrote to Senate Brandis in October last year, less than two months before the deadly Lindt Café siege, asking him if it was legal to contact the Islamic State leader.
